Wonderful, beautiful game. Not at all what I was expecting but deeply moving and strange. Meets you at the same place as Episode 26 of Evangelion, at least for me. I think about the size of the universe all the time. This game felt like those thoughts.

Hi there. I just bought this game for macOS but when double clicking on the Kingdom Ka application icon I get the message "The application 'Kingdom Ka v1.3a' can't be opened." Please help!

Hi, could you try launching the game via the Itch.io App? Let me know if that works for you. ~L

Yes thank you, didn't know there was an app :)

simply amazing! one of the best games I ever play. Existencial crisis elevated to 100% haha

(+1)

This was an incredibly beautiful game. Thank you so much for this experience. Gave me emotions like in a dream. :)

(+3)

Brought me an existential contentment the times of which I could count on one hand. Thank you

(+3)

Thank you very much for the amazing offer, sir.

This was a very beautiful game. I loved the soundtrack (I would totally buy it if you have it up anywhere) and the art. I felt like the game was trying to teach me some life lessons and sometimes I find that annoying in games, but I found this game to be anything but. I really loved it.

(+1)

Glad you enjoyed the game - the soundtrack has just become available on Bandcamp for free/name your price

I enjoyed Kingdom Ka so much I added it to my Hidden Gems Series :)

A like/subscribe would be a huge help to continue these. <3 Enjoy your day!

What is new with the update today?

(+1)

Just small fixes that arose from the last update, not worth a changelog for. Shouldn't affect any saves.

(+1)

Just finished this up, and honestly like your music/story, all the artwork designs, specially the choices codes and "pre-determined" chat, that's a great truth.

A short game that can makes me feel relax. Recommended.

Other way, this program crash few times after I got a item, and crash once after selected kindomka on map.

(+1)

Your point&click adventures are really good. Just need to add some options on the technical side to become perfect.

The download file for Windows is spelled as "kindgomka"…

Good catch!

It would be nice to be able pause gameplay or change the window size so its not taking over the whole computer screen. That is my only issues. other than that I'd give 4 out of 5 stars.

Discovered this gem in the Racial Justice and Equality bundle. What a beautiful experience all around! The perfectly fitting music an sparse use of sound effects coupled with the unique art really sets it apart.

(+2)

I loved this! I have a small request though, the cursors are so amazing, I'd love to use them with windows just day to day. Is there any way you could release or sell them?

<3

(+6)

Hi Denizonmus, glad you enjoyed Kingdom Ka.

I wouldn't know how to go about making a cursor pack for windows, but I've provided the sheet for the cursors below. Feel free to use them however you wish.

Heck yes. Thank you!

I managed to make them into cursor files in case anyone else wants to use em.

Thanks again.

What a wonderful game. I was not expecting to enjoy it so much. This is my favorite game so far in the Racial Justice and Equality bundle. It was quite philosophical and made me really stop to think about certain concepts. The ending was also wonderful. The man who said he just wanted to see his wife and kids... It hit differently when I realized where he was going exactly.

I give it 4.25/5.

The main things knocking it down for me are feature issues. I couldn't exit full-screen, so I had to close the game every time I wanted to exit to do something else.

The saving mechanic was also a little weird, and there were times when my process got lost after I closed the game.

I also feel like this game could've had more dialogue. I would have loved to talk to the clay man more. The ending dialogue with the space monster was clever, but also unsatisfying that there was nothing more after that once you walked away.

Overall, though, this is definitely a game you should check out if you're into philosophical, abstract stuff. I felt like I learned from it :)

Although i went to every area and i think i got every petal(except the one with the universe that eats you?) when i went back to the flower thing it onyl showed two petals as obtained? is this some kind of bug? idk what to do

Hi santijpg ~ there is one character that consumes you, and in doing so and eats all your petals. You will want to visit him again to get them back.

yeah i amanged to resolve it on my own but i forgot to update the comment. thanks anyway tho

This game is the videogame equivalent of a surrealist short film exploring the meaning of your journey through life. Its incredibly beautiful, has great sound design and is snappy enough in its story telling that even though it moves "deliberately", you always feel like it dwells just enough time for you to take in all the details. You can finish it in about an hour and I havent grasped the meaning of every set piece yet, but if you want something that puts you in a bit of a mood, then this hits the spot. 4/5

Hi,

I am trying to play the game, and so far it's great. Only thing is, I am stuck at the well, and have absolutely no idea how to move forward. I tried to fill it with tea, but 6 cups didn't do the trick, so I think it's not the solution ? I also tried to go to the fence without filling the well, thinking the weight could activate something. I tried other things, but none of them worked (obviously; I wouldn't be here if something had worked). Could you give me a clue ?  Thank you kindly.

Hi Saule ~ this character is happy to endlessly fill up your head with more tea, but in order to enter the Kingdom you'll need an open mind. More of something is not always better.

Let me know if you have any further trouble!

Just finished it, it was very nice ! I liked the aesthetic of the game, the philosophical journey, the black&white drawings. Pretty unique.

(+1)

A very poetic and so well drawn game that's worth your time. I can't say for sure what you will take of it, but i am sure it will resonate with you.
Thank you for this game <3

Came here from a let's play stream. I'm vibing hard with this :)

Thanks so much Zea for taking the time to play my game and share it with your community, it was wonderful to hear everyone's thoughts and feelings. Sorry you had some trouble with the scrolling at times, but glad you figured it out in the end. Hope to see you soon with the release of The Garden Path!

(+1)

Hi,

I've got the same problem in the cinema with scrolling not working, but absolutly loving the game so at least it's not a hardship to start again

(+1)

Ignore that, I got it! Amazing game, I bought Crossing to the Cold Valley off the back of how much I like this, thanks for the games

(+1)

all I have to say is that I love this game

(+1)

Hello! I'm so grateful to have been able to play this game. It was so poignant and thoughtful. A true mood piece.

(+1)

Absolutely stunning game. I was excited to see this game in the bundle  for racial justice and equality. I  had played  Crossing to The Cold Valley so I  knew Kingdom Ka was already promising before starting  the game.

This is just one upload of mine but I was utterly impressed by the philosophy delivered through the game. My feelings and emotions got so much brighter towards the end of this game. I   went through    really relaxing and enlightening moments. Thank you so much. This is an amazing indie game.

Thanks for another great playthrough msBean, really looking forward to seeing its conclusion in the next upload!

I can't find the words to even express the feeling this game gives me. This experience was one that evoked the deepest, most undescribable, strangely familiar feeling within me—a bit like deja vu. It was as if I'd played it before and forgotten about it, only to recently rediscover it.

And with the common theme of perspective throughout the game, it made me think of this quote from Adventure Time - "Something weird might just be something familiar viewed from a different angle."

Needless to say I enjoyed it.  Thanks for such a wonderful piece of art.

Hello! Another person having trouble with the Linux version (1.2.0 tarball edition). `vis/visplayer` isn't executable, which isn't a big deal. The bigger problem is that it relies on an old version of libpng (1.2) that is unavailable for my system. One option would be to update it to libpng 1.6. The other would be to bundle the shared library with your game distribution.

There may be additional libraries required -- I haven't gotten further than libpng, though.

Hey jmelesky, thanks for letting me know.

There's been a few issues reported since I've ported the game into the new engine that I have been looking into. I'll be sure to let you know as soon as I've made some progress and pushed an update - it's always invaluable to get feedback like this especially where Linux installations can vary so greatly.

I've decided to roll back the Linux version of Kingdom Ka to the older engine. The main reason the game was ported was to solve a dpi issue in Windows 10 that the newer engine fixed. The user experience between engines is identical on Linux, as far as I can tell.

I'll continue to investigate the issues in the newer engine, but for now this rollback puts us in a much more reliable place for pure playability's sake.

If anyone is having any issues running this game on Linux, do continue to let me know and so I can commit time to investigating.

Thanks!

(+1)

Thank you! It now runs (for me) with no problem out of the box. Good luck with your new engine port!

Hi! Lovely game, are you interested in getting it on steam? I work for a publisher and we're interested in helping out. Feel free to reach me at deana@sedoc.net if you're interested :)

(+1)

Thank you - I'm not currently looking to publish my existing games on Steam, but will be sure to consider you as I develop future titles.

By the way, I'm curious about the soundtrack to Kingdom Ka. Is it available anywhere, like Bandcamp perhaps?

At the moment the soundtrack is available on SoundCloud:

Very nice, thank you.

As gorgeous and engaging an experience as it was, I had considerable trouble running the game on Linux. Trying to run it from the Itch desktop client, it failed since it was looking for an older version of libavcodec. Running it from the tarball worked better, but it didn't respect my primary monitor and opened on my secondary, and the mouse would only move on half the screen. I ended up having to manually disable fullscreen to get it to work properly, which was less than optimal.

I enjoyed the game all the same despite those problems, but it's something you should definitely be aware of moving forward.

Thanks Nezchan - I've had a few users report similar problems with dual monitors. A fix will be a top priority alongside, optimizing the Linux build, in the next patch this week.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm writing a review for Gaming On Linux right now, and I'll be sure to include that info.

No problem - very much looking forward to your review!

My review has been posted. You can find it here.

A great review - I really appreciate you taking the time to write and publish and show the game your support.

I've just released version 1.1.0 which I believe addresses some of the issues you were facing - hopefully making for a smoother Linux experience!

(+2)

Hello again! I am blown away by this game, it's so gorgeous in its design and just wonderful to play thus far! I can't wait to make another video on it and see where this odyssey takes me and our silent protagonist. I made a let's play of your game here~

Just had a chance to watch - a really entertaining play through! So glad you enjoyed what portion you played, and I hope you get a chance to return. (I need to see about fixing that fence glitch, I had no idea!)

(+1)

I'm super glad you enjoyed it! I recorded my second episode yesterday and I can't wait to finish the game in a couple of days :D

Yup turns out I did end up breaking the game (even a little bit ;)
