Welcome to this first beta of The Garden Path, an exclusive for backers.

I hope this build provides a sense for the greater direction the game is heading, and will generate more feedback to help the game be the best it can be. Even though things are still early, I hope you'll enjoy what the game still has to offer. The Garden Path currently features...

Putting out any project is a daunting prospect, and this marks a huge step for The Garden Path.

As the very first beta version, there will be bugs, early assets and oddities. You might have some questions about if this build is right for you to play, hopefully I've answered some of those below...

How close to the final game is this?

The Garden Path is designed to be a game supported with content after its release, and we're at the beginning of that (hopefully) long road. The purpose of this beta is to make sure the core gameplay elements are as rock solid as they can be.

How long will this version last?

0.2 (Holly Berry) is targeted for mid January, and a roadmap will be available soon. But! The game will be frequently updated with new content and fixes between now and then.

How often will you be updating the game?

Folks who helped test the beta know I was pushing updates most weekdays. I am looking forward to putting my feet up and enjoying a mince pie for Christmas, however.

How can I help out?

The Garden Path is built by a small team, so any and all feedback is welcome! Your testing and feedback is invaluable.

Most reported bugs are fixed within ten minutes, and if not will usually point to the frequency of a more complex bug, so please don't feel as though your report is a burden!

Will I be able to keep my save?

I will be doing my utmost to keep the integrity of saves across updates. 

That said, with early versions there's always the possibility of save corruption that we haven't noticed. I haven't run into any yet, but I'm hesitant to say it won't happen.

If you're okay with the potential risk of a save being lost down the line, then enjoy! You can always enjoy a fresh Garden, and multiple saves will be supported shortly.

Otherwise, I would await updates on the stability of a latter version.

Will there be better garden generation while I'm stuck with an old one?

Eventually, as part of the game, there will be a system to move on to a new, fresh garden. You'll keep what you are able to carry and start anew, keeping all of your character's progress along the way. Any new garden will use the latest mode of generating a garden.

Can I share footage of the game?

Yes! In any way you like!
